Instagram has no bold button, so the trick is to copy bold Unicode letters from a font generator and paste them into your bio or caption.
Steps
- Open a bold font generator and type your text.
- Tap Copy on the bold style.
- Paste it into your Instagram bio, caption or comment.
Why it works
These are not a real font. Unicode includes a full set of bold letters (originally for maths), so the bold look travels with the text when you paste it, with no app or install needed.
Things to watch
Bold Unicode letters are read out letter by letter by some screen readers, and a few are not accepted in the name field. Keep anything important, like a link or your real handle, in plain text.
Facts to verify: that Instagram currently accepts bold Unicode in the bio and caption fields (test and date it in compat.json).
